Application & selection

How selection works

A fair, transparent process modelled on how research institutes select summer researchers: we read every application in full, and the task and interview test reasoning, not memory.

  1. Apply online

Complete the application form with your academic details, track and duration, and a statement of purpose. It takes about ten minutes.

  2. Screening

An admissions reviewer reads every application and replies within five working days, by e-mail.

  3. Short task

Shortlisted applicants receive a track-specific task: a small analysis, a reading-and-reasoning exercise or a protocol question. It is designed to take two to three hours.

  4. Interview

A 20-minute online conversation about your motivation, your task and how you approach problems.

  5. Offer and onboarding

Successful applicants receive an offer letter with the start date, mentor, project area and fee. Your place is confirmed when the fee is paid.

  6. Internship and review

Weekly mentor reviews, a mid-point check and a final presentation, followed by your certificate.

What we look for

  • Genuine curiosity and a clear reason for choosing the track
  • Relevant coursework, and any projects, code or lab work you can show
  • How you reason through an unfamiliar problem in the task
  • Reliability: availability for the full duration and weekly commitments

What to prepare

  • A statement of purpose of 150–300 words
  • Your latest marksheet or transcript (requested after screening)
  • Links to a portfolio, GitHub or project, if you have one
  • For dissertations: your institution’s project-permission letter, if required

Students from the second year of an undergraduate programme onwards (depending on the track), postgraduates, PhD students and recent graduates in the life sciences, biotechnology, pharmacy, bioinformatics, computing and related fields. Each track lists its own eligibility.

We read the whole application: academic record and relevant coursework, a statement of purpose, any projects or lab experience, a short track-specific task and a 20-minute interview. No minimum percentage is applied mechanically.

Vedicgen training internships are fee-based and do not pay a stipend; the fee covers mentorship, computing or laboratory resources and materials. The Nayancode scientific software engineering internship is selective and has no programme fee.

Many universities accept it. We provide joining, attendance and completion letters in your institution’s format on request.

No. We never promise publications, placements or jobs. We promise serious mentorship, real work and an honest letter of recommendation where it is earned.

No. Wet-lab internships are held in person at our laboratory; participants arrange their own accommodation and travel.
