Data Engineering & FAIR Data Management

We build the data pipelines and metadata practices that turn scattered spreadsheets and instrument files into well-described, reusable data, and we prepare datasets for public archive submission.

A workflow as a directed acyclic graph, in nf-core process naming: every step is versioned, containerised and re-runnable.

Who it is for

  • Biotech companies consolidating research data
  • Research institutes meeting funder data-sharing requirements
  • Core facilities standardising sample metadata

What you send us

  • Data sourcesInstrument exports, sequencing outputs, spreadsheets and databases.
  • RequirementsWho uses the data, sharing obligations and standards you must follow.

What you receive

  • Data pipelines and validation rules
  • Metadata model and templates
  • Submitted datasets or catalogue entries
  • Documentation and training

Methodology

How the work runs

Each step is agreed with you and documented. Typical tools: Python · DuckDB · Parquet · Prefect · Ontology Lookup Service · ENA and GEO submission tools

  1. Data auditInventory, quality and metadata gaps, with a FAIR assessment.
  2. Model and standardsMetadata model, controlled vocabularies and identifiers.
  3. PipelinesIngestion, validation and storage with documentation.
  4. PublicationArchive submission or internal catalogue, and training for data stewards.

Quality controls

Checks applied to every project

  • Validation rules with rejection reports
  • Metadata completeness metrics
  • FAIR assessment before and after

Scope and limits

What the work can and cannot show

  • Personal health data are handled only under a signed data-processing agreement.

It depends on the data type, the number of samples and the depth of interpretation you need. Every project receives a written quote with scope, deliverables, price and delivery date after a short exchange about your data and questions. The quote is free and carries no obligation.

Data are used only for your project, transferred through a channel you approve and deleted at the end of the engagement on request. We will sign your institution’s confidentiality agreement before any data are shared.
