Vivofold Research

Molecular & Cell Biology (Wet Lab)

Our wet-lab research programme will connect bench experiments directly to computational analysis: gene-expression studies validated across qPCR and sequencing, cell-based assays analysed with rigorous statistics, and microbial screening paired with genomics.

Agarose gel of PCR products: a 1 kb ladder (L), six samples with the expected 750-bp product and a no-template control (NTC). Lane 6 shows a weak product, a non-specific band and primer-dimer.

Questions

What we want to know

  1. How reproducible are common cell-based assay readouts across protocols and laboratories?
  2. How well do qPCR and RNA-seq agree for low-abundance transcripts?
  3. Can environmental isolates with useful enzyme activities be characterised quickly by combining screening and genomics?

Approach

How we work on it

  • Pre-registered protocols and open data
  • Matched wet-lab and computational analysis
  • Replication across protocols

Open projects
